Stewardship: Time, Talent, Treasure, and Trust
Stewardship is managing or conserving something that has been entrusted to us. As members of Urbandale UCC, we believe our stewardship includes what we call the 4 Ts: Time, Talent, Treasure, and Trust.
God has blessed each of us with gifts of time, talents, and financial resources (treasure). It is up to us to act as good stewards for what God has given us.
Our church offers many opportunities to give of our time, beyond attending worship. Some options include: helping with office tasks, setting up before and cleaning after special events, occasional work days at church, and more. Contact the church office for more information.
Do you have a special “talent” for baking? Crunching numbers? Knitting? Conversation? Each of us has a talent for something that the church or the wider community needs. For ideas, check out our small groups and ministry teams, as well as community action opportunities. Or ask our pastor or ministry program coordinator where you might fit in. We have a place for everyone!
Our ministries, programs, staff, building, and community also depend on financial resources. Giving money is another way for us to return to God a portion of that which God gives to us. Our congregation takes seriously the responsibility to be a good steward of these resources, as we support the work of our local church and the wider church and community.
Consider making an annual pledge during our Consecrating Stewards campaign each fall, or give as you are able throughout the year.
To authorize a recurring debit from your checking or savings account (on a weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis):
- download this Electronic Funds Transfer Authorization Form (PDF, 23KB)
- complete and sign the form
- either mail it to the church (“Attn: Financial Secretary”) or put it in the Financial Secretary’s box in the church office.
Finally, as God has entrusted us with the blessings of our time, talent, and treasure, we, of course, put our trust in God. But also, we entrust the members among us who willingly give of their time to lead this congregation. And in turn, they trust us to support their leadership.
